The Fixer
I wrote this after a mission trip, years ago:
When I see the desperation, I want to fix it. I want to know it will be better, and not back in the same place when I return. But the Father speaks through these overwhelming situations...
"This is why I AM. I AM the Fixer. Changing outward circumstances will not change what caused them, therefore, they will return somehow. When I bring change, I change hearts and perspectives, and responses to whatever goes on outwardly. Satan is the prince of this world, and I allow him to change the circumstances; but do not be afraid, because I have overcome the world. I can give a grieving father faith, a desperate mother hope, and a hungry child, laughter. The most important thing you can give is my love, through your hands, your feet and your heart. YOUR job, is to give them ME."
WHAT I CAN GIVE
I can give money to help with medical bills
and support you through your agony
but I cannot heal your child.
I can bring food for the next two weeks
and clothes for the season
but I cannot free you from poverty.
I can give you a roof
or a bed
but I might not be here the next time
tragedy strikes.
I'm unable to give you
the comforts that I enjoy
But I'll take this chance
to give you a glimpse
of the One who heals all diseases
and conquered death
who offers freedom and life
and peace that surpasses earth's worries
and who leaves the ultimate Comforter
to give you victory over darkness.
I cannot give you
What I want to give you
But I know the One who can
So I put your hand
in His, and I leave
with calm assurance
that I gave you everything
you need.
