Beautiful Pain

For those who are grieving great losses, or grieving in other ways today.
So much beauty, so much pain
Will my heart be whole again
It still beats, hopelessly so
A revving engine unable to go
How do I be
How is this done
I know I’m not the only one but my world just stopped
A new one began
I don’t know how it works or if I can.
So much beauty, so much pain
Will my heart be whole again
It will, but with a scar
That’s how you measure from where you were to where you are
In the end we’re one scarred mess
Until Christ comes to repossess
He’ll heal our hearts and
make them smooth again
Until they glisten
like they did when we began.
Thank you, Lord
For beauty in the midst of pain
A glimpse of you that can sustain
Tho my heart in grief does groan
It reminds me, this is not my home
It’s but a short stay
In a flawed and fallen world
And one day you will return
To make it glisten again
Like it did when it began.
