Which Version is True?
Oh for the days gone by, with unbiased news reporting once, maybe twice a day, and the multicolored stripes and monotoned "beeeeeep" when all television stations signed off for the night. Now we have 24/7 speculation, discussion of what might happen and why people think something just happened..."facts," "alternative facts," lots of criticism and more than anything, opinions. The news isn't so much to inform, but instead to sway public perception. So much noise, and so little to glean from it. It's exhausting.
In this fallen world, the voices are many, and they are loud. They all speak with confidence that their version is the truth. Any source that offers information, can sound believable. That's because there is usually a particle of truth in all that we hear, but there is some omission or embellishment, or personal interpretation as well.
What if...you had access to someone on the "inside," who knew what was really happening with this whole Coronavirus situation? Someone who knew where all the slants and biases lay in the reporting? Essentially, what if you had access to the actual truth? You could know what fears are based on false narratives, what the reasons are behind every word you hear. It would have its downside...you would be very frustrated when you heard what you knew were untruths, when you saw your friends fretting unnecessarily, or when your friends and family were not doing what they should, to be safe. However, you could have peace in the knowledge of the truth, and you could calm the fears or lovingly caution the people you love, with factual evidence.
The question is, if you did have that access, would you seek it? Would you be in touch with that source whom you trusted and knew for a fact, was connected to the truth?
Most of us don't have that option...at least not where a pandemic is concerned. However, in the bigger, eternal things of life, we actually do.
We Christians have access to one on the "inside," literally, inside of us, who knows what is really happening, who speaks for the One who is and who was, and who will be. He speaks for the One who knows what is happening all around us, even in spiritual realms that we cannot see, and He is sovereign over all of it. He loves us and he will not lead us astray. We only need to seek Him, to trust Him and to let Him guide our steps so that we can live our life in tandem with His will.
This amazing access will have a similar downside to the hypothetical situation above, but ultimately it offers us incredible peace in the knowledge of the Truth, and safety in a relationship with the powerful Sovereign over all of it. Through this relationship, we can be a source to calm the fears or lovingly caution others. Rest in that, today.

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you.
He is the Holy Spirit, who leads to all truth.
The world cannot receive him, because it isn't looking for him and doesn't recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.
John 14:16-17

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me.
